Exchange- The process of an audience "consuming" a media text, i.e. listing to a radio show, watching TB programmer etc

Media Conglomerate- is a company who owns smaller companies. The smaller companies are know as subsidiaries 

Cross head Conglomerate- is a company that owns subsidiaries of different formats of media. (such as print and radio)

CBS Corporation- CBS has mainly controlled the network television and radio broadcasting side of the business. With the most watched network under its name, CBS 

Sky- sky generates over $10 billion in revenue and over $1.9 billion in profit

Disney- With revenue topping $42 billion and profits of over $5.5 million

 - Adverts should not cause offence
- Adverts should not glorify alcohol, sexual activity, drug taking
- Adverts should not cause harm to children
- Adverts should not be misleading
- Adverts should not give false information about what they are selling/promoting or exaggerate claim made.

Banned Adverts

There has been a Wonger advert that was banned recently. In the advert it was stated that it had a low APR rate for the short term loan but it was over %5000 percent in reality. The ASA found the advert to be miss leading so Wonger had to stop the advert from airing and make a replace ment tthat was more clear to the viewer.

Demographic Conventions Social Grades  

  NRS social grade categories people in class, wealth and job role.

Bauer's has a %53 social grade of ABC1. Bauer's main competitor is Global Media. Bauer's radio station biggest radio station is Hallam FM and Global Media is Capital FM. Hallam FM is the number 1 radio station in south Yorkshire. It is RAJAR that collect the radio listener ship figures. RAJAR is owned by BBC (British Broadcasting Corporation)
